Samuel R.L. Wilkinson, age 86, was born in the family home in Findlay Township on January 20, 1931 and lived there ever since. He was son of the late Edward and Emma (Matthews) Wilkinson. Sam and his son, Albert, died unexpectedly in a tragic car accident in Moon Township on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Sam was married 61 years to his beloved Ida (Meyers) Wilkinson who passed on October 17, 2015. They were the proud parents of Robert William Wilkinson and wife Kathy of N. Fayette Township and the late Albert Edward Wilkinson (surviving spouse (Susan Reeder) Wilkinson; loving grandfather of Laura Ahlborn, Megan Lee, Hannah Wilkinson and PFC Samuel W. Wilkinson; proud great grandfather of Claire & Adalynn Lee, Zayden, Greyson and Brayden Ahlborn; brother of Dolores McCoy of Independence Twp., Janet Shannon of Potomac MI; Jon Wilkinson of Tampa, FL and the late Robert, Howard, David, Donald Wilkinson and Margaret Cepulis. Samuel was member of New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Scout Master of Troop #442, Democratic Committee Chairperson of Findlay Township, member of the Imperial Lions where he served as Treasurer and was Findlay Township Building Inspector. Sam was self-employed as a masonry contractor and had previous worked for E.W. Bliss Mapworks. He obtained his Associates Degree from Robert Morris University. Sam was a crossword puzzle addict, collector of belt buckles, coins, and local historical memorabilia. Sam, had played all sport and still loved to watch sports, especially the Steelers. Everybody who knew Sam, loved Sam. Both father and son will have visitation on Saturday 2-8 and Sunday 1-5 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Everyone please meet for funeral at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 183 Bethlehem Church Rd., Aliquippa, PA 15001 where further visitation will be Monday from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in New Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
