Retired USAF Staff Sgt. Eric T. Myers, a valiant warrior for his country, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 14, 2016. He was born in York, PA on July 12, 1975. Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Ann (Snyder) Myers. Beloved husband for of 13 years to Dr. Colleen Laughlin; loving father of Aidan Myers; cherished son of Thomas Myers; son-in-law of Charles Laughlin and the late Winifred; brother of Brett Myers; half-brother of Heather Myers, Ashley Myers; brother- in-law of Erin and James Heidenreich, Darcy Thorn, Sean and Rebecca Laughlin and Heather and Barton Moyer; cherished uncle of Dominic Rizzuto, Giavanna Rizzuto, Nichole Sickelsmith, Cullyn, Tristan, Landon and Cassandra Myers, Andrea, Molly, and Jacob Laughlin; honorary grandson of Sandy and Bill Economou; and brother to Nikki. Eric was a 1997 graduate of York High School. He proudly served his country for eight years in the U.S. Air Force. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he began his nursing career in Oakland VA Hospital in their Medical Surgical Unit. He went on to obtain his associate degree from CCAC and in spite of his cancer, he was not held back from obtaining his B.S. from California University this January 8, 2016. Not only respected by his co-workers, he was an excellent father, husband, uncle, friend, with a tenacious spirit. He was a wonderful example of strength and inspiration to us all. He was a real hero who touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Visitation Monday from 1-3, 5-9 p.m. at COPELAND'S MOON TOWNSHIP, 981 Brodhead Rd. where Prayers will be recited on Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. followed by Mass at Catherine of Siena, Crescent, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. Family welcomes flowers or donations in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project.
