William C. Rose Obituary

William C. Rose, “Bill”, passed away suddenly but peacefully on November 1, 2022 surrounded by love in the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren.

Bill was born November 9, 1941 at home in Beaver Falls, PA. He was the son of William Charles Rose and Nellie Marie (Schaefer) Rose who are deceased. He grew up with five amazing siblings and is survived by four of them, Theodore (Ted) Rose, Carolyn Rose Weinhold (deceased), Nancy Rose O’Keefe, Mary Rose Bittner, Louise Rose Pryor.

He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1959 where he was a star running back on a storied Western PA football team. He went on to serve for two years in the U.S. Army before returning to Beaver Falls to attend Geneva College, play more football, and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1965. He then attended night school at Duquesne University and earned an MBA in 1971.

Bill met Mary Ann Housholder in 1967. He married her July 13, 1968. Together they created a great life over 54 years of marriage and had two fantastic children, David Rose (Donn Rae) and Anne Marie Rose Kuchera (Michael). He is survived by them as well as his four beautiful grandchildren, Leah Rose, Maegan Rose, Ian Kuchera, and William (Will) Kuchera, who made him a most proud Papa. His grandchildren were the light of the last twenty years of his life. He loved cheering them on in tennis matches, cross country races and soccer games, and enjoyed listening to them play piano. Banjo was his favorite four-legged friend.

Bill built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant and retired from Goldberg, Persky & White as a Legal Administrator in 2008. He served his community by volunteering time to Family Services of Western PA (Wesley Family Services), Montour Trails Council, and the neighborhood where he lived with his family.

Bill was an avid if not challenged Pitt Football fan. He was thrilled when Kenny Pickett was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a voracious reader of all book genres and he had a love/hate relationship with the game of golf, though he loved playing golf with friends. Bill and his wife Mary Ann were fortunate to enjoy many travel adventures with friends during their retirement. They walked thousands of miles together over the years and contributed to the pickleball trend in recent time. He spent earlier years coaching several of his son’s soccer teams, and enjoyed playing basketball with his son and friends in the driveway of their home. Bill ran in dozens of Pittsburgh’s road races over the past thirty years with his daughter, and eventually his grandsons. He greeted everyone he knew and met with a warm smile and a tremendous sense of humor.

Residing in the first house in the neighborhood for 43 years, Bill was well known to spend hours working in his yard. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Bill Rose. While his passing came suddenly, he had the great fortune of living every day of his life to the very fullest. He loved his family and his many good friends. He will be so greatly missed.
