William Thomas Daniels, 77, of Hopewell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Providence Health and Rehab, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on November 27, 1948, in Pittsburgh, he was one of three children of the late William Thomas and Ruth Anne (Neudorfer) Daniels. Bill graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1966 and earned his B.S. in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1970.
During the Vietnam War era, Bill served with the Army National Guard Reserve. In his early working years, he worked as a mechanic at Bolty’s Tire Repair Shop. He later held management positions with Rax, Miami Subs, and Bruegger’s Bagels, where his nickname, “Bagel Bill,” began.
Bill pursued a wide range of interests throughout his life, including fishing, photography, cars, working on and detailing cars, drive-in movies, movie nights at home, cooking, and camping. He was also a member of a local pool league and always enjoyed reading a good book. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and an unmistakable ability to make people laugh. Whether sharing a sarcastic comment or displaying his quick wit, he always seemed to find a way to bring a smile to those around him.
Most of all, Bill treasured time with his family and his grand puppies. He served as an assistant Scout leader for Boy Scout Troop #462 in Hopewell, where his son, Dustin, was a Boy Scout. He especially enjoyed gathering with his buddies at Patrick’s Pub, one of his favorite places to spend time. It was there that many came to know him affectionately as “Bagel Bill.”
He was the beloved father of Dustin Daniels and wife, Ashley; proud grandfather of Kylie; cherished brother of Steven Daniels and the late Kathryn Finley; nephew of Charles Neudorfer; and uncle of Elizabeth (Alex) Foster, Anne (Brian Heberer) Daniels, Colleen Finley, and the late Patrick Finley. His four well-loved grand puppies will also miss him dearly.
Bill’s passing will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His humor, stories, kindness, and unmistakable personality will remain in the hearts of those who loved him. The memories he created and the laughter he shared will continue to bring comfort to those who knew him.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, September 25, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m.
A luncheon will follow from 2–4 p.m. at Patrick’s Pub, 1207 Spring Run Road Extension, Moon Township.
