William C. Fluharty (90) passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Sewickley, the son of the late Luther Earl and Mary Catherine (Haney) Fluharty and step-mother Elizabeth Butkiss; beloved husband of the late Madeline (Carole) Whitfield Fluharty; loving father of Judith McDonough, Luther Keith Fluharty (deceased) and Cara (Charles) Fulton; brother of Ginger McClosky, Joseph (Sandy) Fluharty and the late Louise Fluharty and Earl Fluharty; Grandfather of Shannon Mayo, Jillian Trimmer, Timothy (Trish) Trimmer, Abby Trimmer, Benjamin Hiltz, Madeline Smith and Chaz (Shannon) Fulton. Also survived by many great grandchildren. William graduated from West Allegheny High School in 1953 and was a proud U. S. Air Force Korean War Veteran who served as a materials handler and with the military police from Sept. 24, 1954, through March 14, 1958. He continued his deep patriotism and dedication to his country by serving the American Legion where he held positions as Commander and Adjutant for Post #4 as well as at the 32nd District. He was an active member of Lodge #630 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He also dedicated many hours to assisting older and disabled veterans in receiving needed medical benefits and medals. His commitment to his community was just as humble. In his younger years he served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Bell Acres Borough Fire Department. He served on the Memorial Day parade committee for Sewickley and led many parades and celebrations. He was also a Revolutionary War reenactment enthusiast, sharing his knowledge through elementary school presentations. Many a youngin’ was tossed in the stockade! William also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. Friends will be received at R. D. Copeland. Ltd., 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis on Saturday 5 – 8 pm and Sunday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 am.
