Paraskevi (Voula) Hareras was born in Sami, Cephalonia, Greece, in 1928 and passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. She was a beloved wife for 31 years to the late Constantine (Gus) Hareras and a devoted mother to Maria Kraniou (Dimitris), Paul, Pennie, and John (Alyssa). She was cherished as a grandmother to John, Dean (Helena), Constantine (Michelle), George, Anthony (Emily), Cora, and Copeland, and as a great-grandmother to Sophia, Olivia, Dimitri, Nina, Oliver, and Benjamin. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Chryssoula Milas and Evangelos Antonatos.
Voula was an accomplished poet and author of short stories, with two of her works earning prestigious writing awards. A true patriot at heart, she proudly embraced both of her motherlands—Greece and America. She often shared her patriotic poetry during Greek Independence Day celebrations and was a dedicated, longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Fondly known as the "coffee lady," she and her dear friends played an integral role in Holy Trinity’s annual food festivals.
She was also a founding member of the Cephalonia-Ithacan Society of Pittsburgh, an active member of the Pan-Ionian Society, and the Greek Nationality Room of the University of Pittsburgh. Above all, Voula’s greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, especially during the cherished tradition of Sunday dinners. She also cultivated deep and lasting friendships, enjoying countless trips and social gatherings with those she held dear.
