Virley M. (Wooding) Dickerson, Age 94, a devoted and loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Cedar Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born in Gretna, Virginia on January 25, 1930, the last survivor of 12 children, born to the late Charles Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Callend) Wooding. In addition to her parents and siblings, Virley was preceded in death on May 13, 2017, by her beloved husband of 65 years, Joseph A. Dickerson, Sr. Virley was the loving mother of Andrea Dickerson and Joseph A. Dickerson, Jr. and his wife Karen; grandmother of Keith; step grandmother of Kristin and Kylie; also, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There is nothing she would not do for her family. Virley grew up in Carnegie and graduated from Carnegie High School, class of 1948. After high school, she worked in sales for a women’s clothing store, in Carnegie, until she married her husband in 1952. She also enjoyed baking cakes and pies. Her true vocation was a gift given her by God. It was her voice. She sang Alto and both she and her husband were members of the Victory Baptist Senior Church Choir. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. In raising her family, Virley instilled in them the importance of almighty God in their lives. Both she and her husband were active members of Victory Baptist Church where they also served as deacon and deaconess, she also loved to decorate her beloved church. Even when she entered the long-term care facility, she would participate in Church service, singing, and she would continually share her love for her Lord. She would evangelize her faith to everyone. Visitation will be held on Tuesday (January 21st) 4-8 PM at R. D. Copeland. Ltd., 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis. Further visitation Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Victory Baptist Church, 1437 Juanita St., Pittsburgh, PA 15233. Rev. John Cook, Jr. will preside. Burial will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery.
