Virginia Irene (Montgomery) Picard

Virginia Irene Montgomery Picard of Sewickley, PA

May 18, 1936-December 26, 2025

Virginia died peacefully at home surrounded by her daughter Lynn who has been her caregiver for many months.

Virginia was born to William and Eleanor Montgomery in Natrona Heights.  She graduated from Peabody High School in 1954.  She attended nursing school at St. Margaret’s and later worked for many years at West Hills Vision Center in Moon Twp.

She was widowed at age 27 after the death of her husband Paul Roberts.  In 1966 she married Edward Earl Picard, who thanked God that he got to pick his daughters and joyfully adopted Lynn and Lori.  They welcomed Cindy in 1968.

She is preceded in death by Earl Picard, her brothers David and Bill Montgomery and two daughters Lori Picard and Cynthia Mosholder (Loren).  She is survived by her daughter Lynn Picard as well as her brother Robert Montgomery (Beth) and her sister Susan Brown (Bill).  She was Mimi to her four grandchildren Ryan Walker (Sara), Brendon Walker, Olivia Blake (Corey) and Hannah Mosholder (Logan) as well as six great grandchildren Brendon Walker Jr, Henry Walker, Garrett Walker, Alaina Walker, Corrina Walker, and Ellie Cardaris and she was Aunt Ginny to many nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.

Mimi had a gift for making everyone she met feel important and loved.  She was the thread of her family, the matriarch who was deeply cherished.  Her strength, love, and consistent presence lifted her entire family.

The family is grateful for the caring and support of Gallagher Hospice and Sewickley Presbyterian Church.

Friends and family will be received at R. D. Copeland Funeral Home, Ltd., Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver St Sewickley on Thursday, January 8 from 4-7pm as well as a Memorial Service on Friday, January 9 at Sewickley Presbyterian Church chapel 414 Grant St at 11 am.
