Thomas Gerle

Thomas Gerle, Age 72, a longtime resident of Sewickley and originally from Leetsdale passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026. Born in Pittsburgh on May 7th 1954, Tom was the son of the late John Thomas and Rita Marie (Grossi) Gerle. High School sweetheart and beloved husband of 49 years to Shelley (Steup) Gerle. Devoted and cherished father of Carrie (Michael) Wissner, Jason (Hannah) Gerle, Sr., Erin Gerle, Abbie Gerle McMaster and Lacey (Bryan) Ferrante. Proud “Pap pap” of Emily, Christopher, Jason Jr. “JT”, Brenna, Lila and Autumn. Also survived by a brother, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom worked for many years in the IT Department for US Air and eventually American Airlines.  Besides technology, Tom also owned and operated the Jack and Jill Dry Cleaners in the local area. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends and family when it came to computer issues. Tom coached little league, girls softball, and High School baseball in the Quaker Valley area. A consummate family man by all definitions, Tom’s biggest achievement was his family whom all miss him tremendously. Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley on Monday, June 8th from 2 – 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at St. James Church, Sewickley on Tuesday, June 9th at 10:30am.
