Age 76, of Raccoon Township, PA passed away on July 4, 2024. Ted received his education at Dartmouth College and Georgetown Law School. From 1970 to 1974, he served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant on the USS Massey. He then began his career at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart. During the early 90’s he served as legal counsel in the US Department of Transportation. He taught City Planning at the Tepper School at CMU and served as co-chair with the Pittsburgh’s River Life Task Force. Ted retired in 2021 after a long career as a lawyer with K&L Gates. He is survived by his wife Penny, his children Emily Baron and Kirk McConnell, and Jessica, Zachary, and Sarah Meider, his siblings, Marion and Edwin McConnell, and his 9 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick King and Anna Marie (Neugebauer) McConnell, and brothers Harry and Calvin McConnell. Ted grew up on a farm and continued his love for farming wherever he lived. He enjoyed planting a variety of trees, bushes, vegetables. He placed his farm in a conservancy. He was a kind and generous man. It was said by former colleagues that he was a lawyer’s lawyer, a true gentleman in every respect. The sun always shined on Ted. Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home.
