Theda Jane (Johnson) Miles-Russell

Theda Jane (Johnson) Miles-Russell, 90, of Allegheny County mostly Pittsburgh and Coraopolis, formerly of Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. Born on January 23, 1934, she was one of four children born to the late Alden and Lavern Elizabeth (Lee) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her spouses Lindy Miles and Clarence Russell, her sons Franklin & Joseph Miles, sister Roberta, and brother George. Beloved mother of Steven Miles, Eric Miles, and Scott "Tony" Miles; cherished sister of Aldene “Pat” Sligh; grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 15 and many great great grandchildren. Theda was a devout member of St. Paul AME Zion Church. All her life, she was a hard worker. She had been a waitress/bartender for the Marriott Corporation, the former Gladieux Corporation. Her most important work was that of being a “MOM” to her children, her children’s friends and everyone in her community. She was the go-to person for the young people who trusted her medical advice, would let her dress their scraped knees, she was a confidant where they would ask for sound advice in making decisions. She was well respected in the community and by all who knew her. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, sewing and she even had written a book. Visitation will be Thursday (December 5th) from 12 Noon until time of service at 1 PM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Entombment will be private at Coraopolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, if desired, to Wounded Warriors.
