Stephen Grossarth

“Captain” Stephen Grossarth – Age 83, of Aleppo Twp since 1971 passed away at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Born March 24, 1942, Stephen was the son of the late Clyde and Flora Grossarth. Beloved husband of 56 years to Patricia (McGahey) Grossarth. Loving father of Amanda (Daniel) Hooper and the late Michael Grossarth. Brother of the late Clyde (Shirley) Grossarth. Grandfather of U.S. Army Spc. Alec Michael Hooper and the late Jessica Katherine Hooper. Stephen served his country as a proud veteran of the US Army. He went on to work as a River Boat Captain from 1983 to 2018. Along with his wife Patricia, they were members of Sewickley United Methodist Church. Stephen was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and in his spare time he enjoyed Brass polishing. Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley on Monday, July 14th from 4 – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Sewickley United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 15th at 11 am, everyone please meet at church. Interment will follow at the Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
