Stephen Demel

Stephen Demel, age 73, from Moon Township, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Monday, January 24, 2022. Beloved husband of Helene Gongloff; loving father of Janet Lang (Jim), Kathleen Staiger (David) and Michelle Ivosevic. He was loved dearly by his 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Stephen came from a family of 13. Eight sisters Janet DeRites, Christie Krebs, Darla (Mark Cholewski) Eisel, Cindy (Pat Cavanaugh), Verna Moses and Donna Self (deceased), Tres Firewicz (deceased) and Charlene (deceased) and four brothers Timothy, Michael, Fred (deceased) and Chuck (deceased). Stephen served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1968, worked as an engineer on the P & LE Railroad (Pittsburgh) until the railroad went under. He also worked as a Correction Officer for the Allegheny County Jail (Pittsburgh) until retirement. Stephen had a great gift of gab, leaving people with a laugh or smile on their face. Visitation Sunday 1-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where prayers will be recited on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 AM.
