Stella Marie Council Wright; Age 92, a lifelong resident of Coraopolis, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 peacefully at her home. Beloved wife of the late Harold Wright whom she married on December 3, 1960. Born on October 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Fred and Washetta (Bell) Council. Loving mother of Frederick (Betty) Wright. Sister of the late Fred William (late Bernice) Council, Claude C. Council, Arlene Council and Shirley Council Martin. Cherished aunt of Orin (Camille) Jefferson, Carolyn “Kellyann” (late Carlos) Villareal, Kim Marie (late Derrick) Haskins, Lori G. Rippy, Claude “Mikey” Council, Fred “Billy C” Council and the late Tammy Arlene Johnson, Fred Council III and Wendall “Butch” Council. Great-aunt of Renee Cogburn, Raphael Stover, Kamelah (Rodrick) Barnett, Pamela (Daryl) Saunders, Frederick (Lanekka) W. Council IV and Omari (Cori) Ricks. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Marie was a 1951 graduate of Coraopolis High School. After High School she continued her education at Duquesne University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education. She went on to obtain her master’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh and even took further credits at the University of Pittsburgh and Carlow College. Marie began her career as a teacher in several schools throughout the Pittsburgh area. She went on to become Elementary School Superintendent with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She also enjoyed instructing and guiding student teachers as their supervisor. Marie was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Coraopolis where she served as the Sunday School Treasurer. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1201 Hiland Ave, Coraopolis on Saturday, July 5th from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM. Dinner will follow in the fellowship hall immediately following the Church Service. The public is invited on Monday , July 7, 2025 at 11 AM for committal at the Coraopolis Cemetery Chapel.
