It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Ann Watts, 88, announce her passing on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Shirley was born on September 3, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her son, Raymond (Sonny) Jr., and her grandson, Jacob. She leaves behind her sisters Carol and Martha (Jean), her children Tina, Norman, Vicki and Rich, her seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaithlyn, Daniel, Emily, RJ, Dane, and Minna, her six great grandchildren; Madison, Kaiden, Sayer, Rashawn, William, and Priscilla, and many others whom she considered her family. She lived a simple, yet extraordinary life surrounded by many whose hearts she captured.
Shirley had an uncanny ability to turn ingredients and a dash of laughter into baked masterpieces, and she will be remembered for her poppy seed cakes and her macaroni salad. Her kitchen was her stage, and she preformed culinary wonders with effortless grace. She was a maestro of the stovetop symphony, crafting meals that warmed hearts and filled bellies. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest love and audience, frequently treated to her generous servings of affection and home-cooked feasts.
When not delighting in the company of her family, Shirley was the patron saint of stray animals, offering them refuge and care with boundless compassion. Her home was never without a furry companion or two, each one finding solace in her nurturing presence.
Shirley was the foundation of her family. Her legacy is one of warmth, humor and boundless love-a recipe for live that she perfected and shared generously with all who knew her.
