Sara J. (Trunzo) Hess

Sara J. Hess; Age 88 a lifelong resident of Sewickley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Trunzo. Cherished wife of 70 years to John R. Hess. Loving mother of John J. (Sharon) Hess of Sewickley, Diane Hess of Sewickley and David (Lynn) Hess of Grosse Pointe, MI. Sister of the late Rachel (Anthony) Gariti, Parma (James) Munizza, Marie (Don) Crayne and Anthony (Agnes) Trunzo. Sister-in-law of James (Mary) Hess of Sewickley and the late Shirley (Robert) Jellison. Grandmother of Kristen (Philip) Heimann & Sara, William and Jane Hess. Great-grandmother of Grady and Beatrice Heimann. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Sara was the secretary at Edgeworth Elementary for 25 years. A devout Catholic, Sara was a eucharistic minister and member of the women's guild at St. James Church in Sewickley. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with family and grandchildren. Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley on Sunday from 4 - 8 PM. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 AM followed by a mass of Christian burial at Divine Redeemer, St. James Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in the St. James Church. Memorial contributions in Sara's name may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
