Samuel Lucci IV Obituary

Samuel J. Lucci IV, age 56, a Moon Township resident for the past 17 years, formerly of Center Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at AHN Wexford Hospital. Sam was a wonderful husband, father, son, community man, friend, coach, and mentor. Sam was born in Pittsburgh on May 25, 1969. He was a graduate of Center High School, Class of 1987. For many years he worked in Sales Management for both Cabinet World and Bath Fitters, but his forte was being a stellar example of a dedicated dad and coach of youth baseball, softball, and basketball. He made a positive difference by being every kid’s biggest fan by being encouraging, positive, always smiling, and giving great hugs. All of these traits were contagious. He was a big sports fan of the NY Knicks, University of Louisville Cardinals, and the University of Miami Hurricanes, with a passion for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers which led him to meet his future wife. He would take a yearly trip with his buddies where they would watch sports for the whole weekend. He also loved old-school rap, R&B, and action movies, enjoying the Bad Boys and The Fast and the Furious series. Sam was a member of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. During his struggle with cancer, he showed resilience and bravery that was an inspiration to everyone. We were blessed to have had him in our lives. Sam is survived by his wife of 22 years, Melissa (Devinney) Lucci; his two children Sammy Lucci V and Gianna Lucci; his mother Marlene (Hecht) Lucci; his father Samuel Lucci III and MaryJo Young; sister  Dana and Adam Naddelman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Patrick and Clara Devinney; his brother-in-law Matthew and Lauren Devinney; his sister-in-law Stephanie and Erik Heyl; also several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation Sunday (Aug. 17) 4-8 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. On Monday (Aug. 18) prayer will be offered at 10:30 AM followed by Mass at 11 AM at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Margaret Mary Church, 1 Parish Place, Moon Township, PA 15108. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association (ECAware.org).
