Roy W. Roberts, fondly called “Little Gup,” of New Castle, formerly of Neville Island and Robinson Township, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Sharon Regional Hospital. He was born in Bellevue on March 7, 1950, one of two sons born to the late Andrew and Anne (Lishach) Roberts. Beloved husband of Patricia (Rosner) Roberts; loving father of Jason (Jennifer), Adam (Brittany) and Daniel (fiancé Gabrielle); cherished grandfather of Katelynn, Isabella, Zachary, Ashlee, Elyse and Garrin; brother of the late Andrew (Rose) Roberts. He was a 1968 graduate of Neville Island High School where he had played football and went on to play football for St. Vincent’s College. Roy was a longtime supervisor of the P & LE Railroad Labor Relations and had also worked for Conrail and Norfolk Southern as a train dispatcher. Roy proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. Roy was a family man who coached soccer for his boys and was a member of the Pittsburgh Spirit Booster Club. He loved relaxing at a campground or visiting the casinos. Roy will have a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 11 AM - 12 PM followed by a Memorial Service and Military Honors at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Family suggests donations in his name to the Neville Island Volunteer Fire Department.
