Rose “Jeanne” Meta Sekanick, 90, of Moon Twp, passed away suddenly in her home on June 20, 2021. Born in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Verna Meta. Beloved wife of the late James Edward Sekanick Sr, married 46 years. She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony Meta and sister Teresa Meta Hatt. Jeanne graduated from Sewickley High School in 1948 and worked at American Bridge. She was married in 1952 and raised her family in Moon Township. While in Moon she worked at Sun Drug and then Moon Area School District until her retirement in 1988. In retirement she moved to Cape Coral, Florida and spent 25 years as a Floridian. She moved back to Moon in 2011 to be closer to her family. Jeanne lived an active lifestyle. While in Florida she was treasurer of her bocce ball league and treasurer of the Italian American Club for many years. She enjoyed golfing and taking cruises to the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. She even served as a volunteer for the Cape Coral Police Department. After moving back to Pennsylvania, she enjoyed a more relaxed lifestyle which consisted of gardening, watching sports (especially Pittsburgh teams), crossword puzzles, going to the pool, watching news and of course Jeopardy. She will be remembered and missed by her children, James Jr (Cathy), Jeffery (Deb), Judith Kletzli (Nelson), Jason, Jonathan, and Joseph (Tammy); her grandchildren, James (Kelly), Matt (Dru), Adam (Tracie), Christopher, Samuel (Jenn), Jeanette Kletzli, Megan Larkin (Garrett), Heather Gram (Jacob), and Christopher; her great grandchildren, Hayden, Khloe, Aria, Axton, Avery, Alex, Carter, Luke and Isabella; and her sister Peggy Welte (Jim) . There will be no public viewing, but a Blessing Service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 25th at Copeland’s in Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road, burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations in her memory be made to: West Hills Meals on Wheels, 1205 Ridge Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108.
