Rose L. (Rucker) Thompkins, “best Mom ever”, age 82, of Coraopolis and McKees Rocks, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Rose was born in Sewickley on March 5, 1939, one of eight children born to the late Richard and Lula Mae (Buntin) Rucker, Sr. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Lee Thompkins, Jr., son Douglas Thompkins III and sisters Florence “Boots”, Lucy, Laura “Maxine”, and young sister Hazel. Rose was a member of CALM Church of God in Christ. “Miss Rose,” the hair stylist, helped her many clients, family, and friends, look and feel beautiful about themselves. She was a great listener, a therapist in her own right. Rose also had a great sense of humor, was always joking and was there for her whole family. Beloved mother of Rhonda Cloud, Derick Thompkins and wife Carole, Bruce Thompkins and wife Michelle, and Brynner; loving grandmother of Antany, Courtney and her sister Tonya, RayShelle, KiAyko, Jeremy and Armoni; stepgrandchildren Tasha, LayRasha, Shaglenda, Charles and Markeiz; great grandmother of Nakiah, Kenya, Kenneth Jr., Kennedy and Kenlee; great great grandmother to Aaliyah Joy Fette; cherished sister of Ruth “Chi Chi”, George” G.C.” and Richard Jr. “Chubby”; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation Friday (October 15th) 2-8 PM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be on Saturday (October 16th) at 11 AM. Burial will be private in the family area of Coraopolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to the American Cancer Society. Rhonda, Derick, Bruce and Brynner said “We are thankful she was our Mom. It will be hard to live without her.” Keep us in prayer.
