Ronald Michael Panko, Sr. Age 84, a longtime Moon Twp resident passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday evening, September 12th surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 62 years to the love of his life Gloria Jean (Tapler) Panko. Proud son of Ukrainian parents, the late Peter and Stephanie Panko. Cherished father of Ronald Michael Panko, Jr (Joy), John Panko (Charlotte) and Kristina Frioni (Bill). Brother of Richard Panko (Kathy). Grandfather of Samantha (Jack) Scharf, Matthew Panko (Kat), Christopher Panko, Morgan Panko (Kyle), Sarah Panko, Luke Frioni and Paige Frioni. Ron welcomed his 1st great-grandchild Beau on this Wednesday (9/10). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many good friends. Ron was very active in the youth sports in Moon Twp, coaching baseball, basketball and football. He served on the Moon Parks Board, served as an Usher at St. Margaret Mary Church. He was a proud U. S. Army veteran and served as chaplain for the American Legion West Hills Post 924. Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township on Tuesday, September 16th from 4 - 8 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 17th at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion West Hills Post 924, PO Box 472, Coraopolis, Pa. 15108.
