Robert Francis Nussbaum was born in Pittsburgh, PA at Allegheny General Hospital on September 5, 1956. Robert passed away gently in his sleep the morning of March 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Richard and Mary.
Robert was extraordinarily special. His days were filled with exuberance, curiosity, focus, activities, and looking forward to playful adventures. Anytime spent with Robert proved that God exits. He taught us patience, boundless joy, family unity, and humanitarian pride.
Robert loved White Swan Park, Kennywood Park, Cedar Point, the Moon High Marching Band, The Notre Dame Band, and The Penn State Blue Band. Robert also loved John Caliapari, the Spellmans, The Fuscos, the Marchiondas. Robert was a big fan of Moon High Friday Night Football, Andy VanSlyke, trains of all sizes, Danny Partridge, the Brady Bunch, Wizard of Oz, The Beach Boys, Diet Coke, swimming in lakes, pools, and oceans. The Gateway Clipper, carnivals and festivals were also on his list of favorite things.
Robert loved the Catholic mass and going to church on Sundays. St. Margaret Mary Church was his favorite, and he loved to listen to George the “organ player” as Robert called him. Robert was a big Pittsburgh Pirates fan and loved listening to Vincent the organist when he attended games. Shrimp with and without the shell, milk shakes, pizza and many, many, other Pittsburgh attractions made Robert smile. Robert graduated from Saint Margaret Mary Parish school and Moon School district special education. Robert participated in all things Catholic.
Robert is survived by his siblings Richard II (Mary Pat), Jon (Mary Ann), Ann (Carl) and Paul (Kimberly). Robert also has many loving nephews and nieces, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Robert spent much of his life living at home in Moon Township, PA cared for by his parents and siblings. Robert spent the remainder of his life in Robinson Township, Pa. managed by Citizen Care INC. We are forever grateful for Victor and the entire staff who were as much a family to Robert as we are.
Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp on Friday, March 6th from 9:00am until time of Mass at St. Margaret Mary at 11am.
