Robert F. Nickles, 73, of Neville Island for most of his life, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Cedar Hill Rehab and Wellness. He was born in Sewickley Valley Hospital on May 21, 1951, the oldest child to the late Marie (Rosner) and William A. Nickles, Jr. Beloved father of Robert F. Nickles II and wife Emily; loving grandfather of Eleanora Jane Nickles; cherished brother of Cindi Ferguson and husband Robert and Suzann Snyder and husband Timmy; uncle of Heather Ochman and husband Scott, Timmy Snyder and wife Kristin, Courtney Biancucci and husband Adam, and Amber Muti and husband Ben; also 7 great nieces and nephews; and his furry companion, Jack the cat! Bob was a Neville Island graduate, class of 1969, where he played football and was a member of Key Club. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Susquehanna University in Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, reading, cars, history, and animals. He also enjoyed music from the Grateful Dead and “The King” Elvis Presley. Robert was Catholic by faith.
To know Bob was to love him. His genuine kindness and witty sense of humor always kept you on your toes. Becoming "Bubba Bob" to Eleanora Jane 7 years ago was a gift he cherished, a gift that kept him young at heart.
The family would like to thank all those who took care of Bob over the last 5 months including AGH (Tommy, Eugene, Denny), AHN Hospice (Rhonda, Stacy), PAM Health (Ally, Kaitlyn, Natela), Cedar Hill Skilled Nursing (Dr. Doshi, Karlee, Steve, Sherricka, Shante, Danielle, T), and those whose names we might have forgotten but we recognized your compassionate care and your connection with Bob and his notorious sense of humor.
As we celebrate Bob’s life, we invite you to join us on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Rockefeller’s Grille, 1833 McKees Rocks Rd., McKees Rocks, PA 15136 from 5-8 PM. Attire will be casual, but feel free to were tie-dye, Hawaiian, Music Band, Outer Banks Tee Shirts, or anything that reminds you of Bob
