Robert D. Lingg

Robert D. “Bob” Lingg, age 83, of Moon Twp., passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2026.

Bob was born on August 6, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Joseph A. Lingg and Florence S. (Reidel) Lingg. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph R. Lingg, and his sister, Phyllis A. Luehrmann.

Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen (McDevitt), to whom he was a loving and devoted husband. Together they loved and guided their five children, Robert (Jamie), Marianne (Kevin) Bailey, Michael, Julie (Kirk) Lombard, and Theresa (Christian) Lockerman; and their thirteen grandchildren, Aurora (Hayden), Shaleigh, Rosalynd, Kemi, Joshua, Eric, Kierstin, Shola, Johnathan, Benjamin, Olivia, Ani, and Zachary.

After losing his father at an early age, Bob lived for five years at St. Joseph Orphanage in Cincinnati, being cared for by the Sisters of Charity. With his determination and profound work ethic, he earned his way through McNicholas Catholic High School and later attained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Xavier University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. He built a long career as a chemist, first at the EPA in Cincinnati and later in Pittsburgh, spending the last 27 years of his working life at Bayer in Robinson Twp.

A devout Catholic, Bob was deeply dedicated to the Right-to-Life cause. He also had a lifelong passion for learning, with a particular love of science, history, and woodworking. Beyond his devotion as a husband, father, and grandfather, he volunteered at his church and throughout the community. He served as a parish lector and educator, Boy Scout Cubmaster, and swim club handyman. He also especially loved mentoring and helping his grandchildren with their science homework and projects. After retirement, Bob enjoyed reading, golfing, flying his model airplane, and more than anything, spending time with his family. Bob will be remembered for his faith, intelligence, generosity, kind heart, steadfastness, and wit.

Visitation will be held at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp., on Thursday, August 6th from 2–4 and 6–8 pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 7th at 9:30 am prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 am. Following the Mass, Bob will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
