Richard "Dick" Burns Obituary

Burns, Richard "Dick"; Age 83, of Moon Twp, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. In life, he was always surrounded by his loving family, especially his wife, Darlene Burns. Beloved son of the late George and Kathryn Burns. Cherished father of Penny (Bob) Zunski, Michael Burns (Marlene), and the late Alan Burns. Brother of Judy (late Edward) Walsh. Grandfather of Molly and Christopher Zunski. As close as a brother to cousin Bob Wolf and lifelong friend of Bruce Thompson. Dick was a music teacher and band director at Fort Cherry Junior-Senior High School for 33 years. Along with teaching music, Dick was a member of the Pittsburgh Musicians Union Local 60-471 as a professional musician. He toured with Dick Clark in the late 50's and entertained with many professional acts as they came to the Holiday House in Monroeville. He was also a part of numerous big bands throughout Pittsburgh and Southwestern PA. Because of COVID concerns and in accordance with the family's wishes, all services and interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland, Inc., Moon Twp.
