Richard Vincent "Rich" Chiodo

Richard Vincent “Rich” Chiodo, age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

He was born on April 22, 1942, the son of the late Anthony “Tony” and Jennie Regeldini Chiodo.

Rich was the beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Wogan) Chiodo; devoted father of Richard (Toni) Chiodo, Thomas (Jennifer) Chiodo, and Jane Ackerman; and loving brother of Russell, Annette Ceriani, James (Shari), Bernie Parrott (Louis), and the late Donald.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Joseph “Joey” (Sara), Katie (Brandon), Sarah (Kyle), Michael, Rachel (Daniel), Thomas “Tommy” (McKenna), Julia, and Stella; four great-grandchildren: Harlow, Hughes, Nora, and Levi; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rich graduated from Beaver Falls High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. After college, he began a long career in management with Allegheny Ludlum Steel, where he worked for 29 years before retiring.

Rich had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball and football. Over the years, he enjoyed coaching and umpiring baseball, as well as spending time on the golf course. He was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed following and cheering on his team throughout the years.

At the center of Rich’s life was his family and his love for his wife, Mary. Rich and Mary shared 48 years of marriage, building a life together centered around their family and the many memories they created over the years. Mary held a very special place in Rich’s heart, and her passing on March 17, 2011, was a profound loss. The love they shared remained an important part of Rich throughout the rest of his life.

Rich was a personable and outgoing man with a great sense of humor who was well-liked by nearly everyone he met. He shared a special bond with his brothers and sisters and deeply valued the love, laughter, and memories they shared throughout their lives. He took great pride in being an involved and loving grandfather, enjoyed being a part of his grandchildren’s lives, and treasured the time he spent with his family.

Rich will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Friends will be received at R. D. Copeland, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township, PA, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m.

Rich’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of St. Anne’s Home for the kindness, friendship, and care they showed him during his time there. St. Anne’s became much more than simply a place where Rich lived. He formed many special relationships with both the staff and his fellow residents, and the friendships, companionship, and genuine affection he experienced there meant a great deal to him and to his family.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Rich’s memory to St. Anne’s Home, 685 Angela Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
