Richard J. Castellan, Jr., 80, a long-time resident of Independence, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Concordia of St. Joseph Villa. He was born in Sewickley on September 30, 1945, one of three children to the late Agnes (Gerbec) and Richard J. Castellan, Sr. Beloved husband for 59 years to Benita A. (Trunick); loving father of Richelle (Mark) Jorgensen, Marcy (Joshua) Adams, and Rhonda (Aaron Applequist) Castellan; cherished grandfather of Logan Joshua Adams; brother of Ivona (Joseph) A. Krigar and the late Arthur Castellan. Richard was proud to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2002, after 30 years in maintenance for U.S. Airways. Richard was a member of the Hopewell VFW, Coraopolis Beagle Club and the U.S. Air Retirees. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, electronics, fixing/working on cars and he used to enjoy riding his motorcycle. Visitation Tuesday (Feb. 3) 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Wednesday (Feb. 4) at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Clinton UP Church Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his name to Beaver County Humane Society to help with the 20+dogs that were recently rescued.
