Rev. Dr. Thomas Petrosky

Rev Dr. Thomas Raymond Petrosky, age 69, of Robinson Township passed away peacefully with his friends and family by his side at Allegheny General Hospital on Monday, August 14, 2023. A man of tremendous faith, he served the community and people of Coraopolis for 20 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was dearly loved by many. Thomas was born on May 10, 1954, in Johnstown, PA to the late Paul R. Petrosky and Harriet Petrosky (Betzold).

Thomas attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He then went on to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry in 1998. Thomas served as a Student Pastor at the Edinburgh & Hillsville United Methodist Churches from 1981 - 1983. He then went on to be the Pastor of the West Elizabeth & Elrama United Methodist Churches from 1983 – 1993. From 1993 - 2003 he served as the Pastor of Valley Presbyterian Church. Most recently, Thomas has served as the Senior Pastor of The Presbyterian Church or Coraopolis since 2003, recently celebrating his 20-year anniversary. Thomas was a devoted Christian who dearly loved his church family.

Thomas will be remembered as a gentle, kind, compassionate and soft-spoken man. He loved his family and his grandchildren; who lovingly referred to him as “Grandy.” Family time was always important to him. He loved to share in meals (which usually included a donut for dessert) and family vacations. He loved spending time outdoors and found great joy in completing projects around his home. Thomas enjoyed hobbies including antique cars and assembling model cars. He had a deep love for his family, church congregation and friends. Thomas was the type of person to always see the good in others and encourage them.  He walked alongside everyday people and was a source of encouragement, hope, and an example to all.

As we celebrate this man’s goodness, we ask you to join us for visitation on Friday from 5 – 8 PM and Saturday from 9 – 10 AM at his home church, The Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis, 1201 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis. A masonic service will be held on Friday evening at 7:45PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 AM followed by interment at the Sewickley Cemetery. Arrangements faithfully entrusted to R.D.
