Nicholas “Nick” Seth Engel, 46, of Warren, Ohio, formerly of Sewickley, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, OH. Born in McCandless Twp, PA, on September 3, 1978, he was the youngest of five children to Grace (Schmidt) and the late Alan J. Engel, Sr.
In addition to his mother, Nick is survived by his brothers and sisters, Alan (Tobie) Engel, Melissa (Rob) Carter, Cynthia (Alan) Veronick, and Matthew (Jen) Engel; his girlfriend, Shauna Kearns; his nieces and nephews, Ethan and Henley Engel, Aislinn Carter, Piper Veronick, and Avery, Travis, and Reese Engel; many co-workers and a tight group friends who were all like a second family to him. He was the best pet dad to his beloved dog, Seamus.
Nick worked at Thrive Counseling, where he excelled as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. He oversaw the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program, working closely with the court system, conducting drug screenings, offering individual counseling, and managing client cases. He was always quick to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a sarcastic remark when needed.
Nick had a heart of gold, genuine spirit, and dry wit. Whether helping clients, supporting the Steelers deep in Browns country, or lightening the mood during a long day, he made a lasting impression. He was a loyal friend, a dedicated professional, and a person who truly cared…and he will be deeply missed.
Nick was a 1997 graduate of Quaker Valley High School and a lifelong Steelers fan.
