Molly (Meehan) Stater

Molly Meehan Stater, age 64, a devoted mother, musician, and gifted educator, passed away on August 7, 2026. Molly was born on October 5, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Howard Meehan and Margaret Maeder Meehan. A graduate of Bexley High School in Bexley, Ohio, Molly continued her education earning her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hawaii, her Master of Fine Arts from Indiana University Bloomington’s Jacobs School of Music, and her Master of Music Education from Carnegie Mellon University. Although she was a native of Ohio, she spent seven happy years as a resident in Honolulu, Hawaii, before ultimately building a life and family in Sewickley, Pennsylvania for the last thirty-five years. A talented and accomplished opera singer, Molly possessed a deep passion for music that remained an important part of her life. After spending twenty-three years as a homemaker, she later devoted her skills to educating others, owning and operating a voice and piano studio in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Through her teaching, she was able to share her knowledge and appreciation for music with her students; showing up for her students as their biggest cheerleader, she would regularly attend every student’s school performances each year. Above all, Molly was the loving mother of seven children: Lydia Stater (and her fiancé, Richard Bond Jr.) of New York, New York; Jack Stater of Patoka, Illinois; Hannah Stater of Fort Myers, Florida; Elizabeth Stater of New York, New York; and Joseph Stater, Adam Stater, and Abigail Stater, all of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Molly will be remembered for her remarkable musical talents, her dedication to teaching and the arts, her care for both her local and church communities, and most especially for the love and devotion she had for her seven children. At Molly's request, all of her services and interment were private. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel, Sewickley, PA.
