Michael L. Ross, 69, was born in Sewickley Valley Hospital on April 28, 1956, son of the late Michael J. Ross and Carmella Rivetti Ross and most recently lived in Ben Avon, Pa. He passed away on March 19, 2026, after a long hospital stay.
Michael was a graduate of Duquesne School of Pharmacy and worked as a hospital pharmacist for many years, including as a Captain at Fort Hood, Texas, in the US Army. His most recent and heartfelt professional position was as the Director of Pharmacy at Kindred Hospital on the Northside.
His early love of music led him to be a self-taught musician and later in life, he found both stimulation and refuge in painting, writing, and public speaking. Michael was a recent officer of his local Toastmasters’ International Club and took home several awards as a Toastmaster including the 2025 Toastmaster of the Year of his local group.
Michael also recently authored a short novel, a cozy mystery, Bad Impressions, which can be found at both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. He had plans for two additional books in the series, and his family would like to complete them in his memory. In addition to this work of fiction, Michael co-authored the ROAMcare.org blog for many years with his good friend, Diem Pham.
Michael is survived by two sisters, Patricia and Mary Anne, both of Beaver, Pa and his true angel, his daughter, Angelica Ross of Emsworth, Pa. He is also survived by a large extended family.
Michael fought a long battle with many health problems, and his family expresses gratitude to all those who cared for him and played a role in his life in which he lived fully in spite of many obstacles.
Michael’s family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road, Pittsburgh, Pa 15237 or The National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org/Donate).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 1-6 pm at R.D. Copeland Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Parish on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10am. Interment will be at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
