Mary Lou Lanza Obituary

Mary Lou Lanza, 73, a life-long resident of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital. She was born in Sewickley, March 7, 1950, to the late Louis and Mary (Berola) Lanza. She is survived by the loves of her life, her “pride and joy”. Beloved mother of Kara Uhrlen of South Fayette and Kristin Lynch and her husband David of Atlanta, GA. Loving grandma of Kayla and Juliana Uhrlen and Emerson and Liam Lynch. Cherished sister of Charles Lanza of Memphis, TN, Robert Lanza of the North Hills, Lou Lanza of Boca Raton, FL and the late Lawrence Lanza. A woman of deep faith in God and the Blessed Mother, she was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Christian Ladies group. Her life’s accomplishments were raising her daughters, caring for her mother (Mary), her brother (Lawrence) and teaching for 37 years in both Cornell School District and St. Joseph’s School. Mary Lou loved being around people. She loved singing, dancing, laughing, traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.  She was always planning parties, birthdays, graduations, retirement parties and she loved to travel to see her daughter Kristin in different cities such as Chicago and Atlanta.  Once she retired from teaching, she volunteered her time answering phones at Felician Sisters Convent as well as making themed gift baskets for charity auctions at the church and school events. She also enjoyed attending those events and prided herself on being “lucky” by winning just as many baskets as she had made.  And, one could always count on her to share her favorite desserts with friends at church as well as ladies nights. Visitation Friday (April 21, 2023) 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Prayer will also be recited at Copeland’s on Saturday (April 22, 2023) at 9:00 AM, followed by Mass at St. Joseph Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.  If desired, the family suggests donations to Felician Sisters of North America, Inc., Retirement Fund, 871 Mercer Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010-6815 in lieu of flowers.
