Mary Caleffi Obituary

Mary Caleffi

January 20, 1947 – May 24, 2022 (age 75)

Tuesday, May 24, 2022 was the day that the Lord chose to call Mary Theresa Coyle Caleffi home. Mary was born on January 20, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts to Thomas Coyle Sr. and Helen Coyle (Cotter). Mary was blessed to have two devoted older brothers,  Thomas Coyle Jr. and E. Wallace “Wally” Coyle. Mary enjoyed dance and piano lessons as a child. As the daughter of a WWII veteran, Mary and her brothers learned at a young age to love and appreciate America. Since they are an Irish family, they all loved St Patrick's day.

Mary was a faithful Christian. She was a member of West Hills Christian Church and later, Bellevue Christian Church. She enjoyed the wisdom gained from Bible studies, but especially loved the fellowship.

Mary married Ron Caleffi on April 28, 1973. They had four children: Molly Caleffi Czuwara (David), Jim Caleffi (Stephanie DiFrancesco), Sally Caleffi Fulkert (Marc) and Steve Caleffi (Yanee). Mary’s hospitable nature created a home where her kids' friends were treated like her own kids. She was an amazing teacher and role model to her children, sons-in-laws, and daughter-in-laws.

With Mary’s generous spirit and desire to help, it was a natural transition for her to select nursing as a profession. Mary trained as a nurse at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. Throughout her career, she worked in emergency medicine, assisted living and hospice.

Mary truly encompassed “To whom much is given, much will be required.” She always made time to volunteer in the community. She was on the inaugural board of Friends to Establish a Library for Moon and Crescent townships. She served at the airport area crisis pregnancy center. She started the healthcare ministry at West Hills Christian church. And Mary loved any chance to assist in the church nursery.

Mary loved the ocean and visited many East coast beaches. She enjoyed a Carribbean cruise with her husband on their 30th anniversary. She enjoyed walking, especially if it gave her a chance to chat with a walking companion. Mary was an excellent cook and loved making Thanksgiving dinner from scratch.

She had five grandchildren: Roman Fulkert, Adam & Rachel Czuwara and Alex & Soreya Leonard. Rachel adored sleepovers at her house. Adam enjoyed watching “Lucky Dog” with her. Roman and Grandma had a shared love for the beach. Alex & Soreya had a great time playing board games with her.

Mary’s family is shocked and saddened by her sudden death. We know she is in a better place now. Her family will keep her memory alive by serving others and always taking time to give someone a hug.

Friends will be received June 1 from 6 pm - 8 pm and June 2 from 12 pm - 1 pm. There will be a service June 2 from 1 pm - 2 pm. at COPELANDS MOON TOWNSHIP, 981 Brodhead Rd, Moon Twp, PA 15108. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Children’s hospital of Pittsburgh.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
