Marlene Babik Obituary

Marlene A. (Lytle) Babik, 84, well-loved mother, and cherished grandmother and great grandmother, raised in West View, graduated from St. Benedicts Academy, resided in both Moon Township and Lake Worth, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL. She was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 12, 1936, one of two, to the late William and Catherine (Powers) Lytle. On March 3, 2005, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, William J. Babik, Jr. Marlene and Bill had a wonderful life together-snow birding to Lake Worth Fl since 1989, traveling, cruising, camping, and bowling. They opened there home to families from around the world that came to Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh for liver transplant recipients from the inception of that program, for many years. They were members of St. Margaret Mary Church along with their children. During their 48 years, they were blessed with three beautiful children who survive them: Steven (Darlene) Babik of Kountze, TX, Lois Babik Campbell of Lake Worth, FL and Stan (Sharon) Babik of Coral Springs, FL; loving grandchildren Hollie, Courtney, Stephanie, Jason, Robby, Christie, Christopher, Megan and the late John; also 15 great grandchildren. Marlene is also survived by her brother William Lytle, Jr. As we mentioned earlier, Marlene was a member of St. Margaret Mary and the Ladies Guild as well as worked there under Father Dompka. She collected crucifixes, teapots, and enjoyed sewing. Most of all, she loved her family along with volunteering at her grandchildren’s schools. Marlene had worked as an executive secretary at Chester Engineers. In her spare time, she volunteered at MSPB Cardiology office in Atlantis, FL. Plans are to have a Celebration of Life later in the year. Due to Covid 19 visitation will be limited to Friday, 8:30 to 9:30AM, at Copeland’s, Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Avenue, where prayers will be recited on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 AM, Father Ming Wi, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
