Marilyn L. (Sellers) Dowdy

Marilyn Dowdy; life began for Marilyn Louise Sellers on April 25th, 1944, in Sewickley, PA.  Marilyn was one of three children from the union of Marion L. Sellers, Jr and Virginia L. Jefferson.  After 77 years Marilyn peacefully transitioned this life on may 7th, 2024.  Marilyn worked for pa American water company as a customer service representative in mt Lebanon, pa.  She also during her time there served as a union grievance representative assisting to negotiate contracts for union workers. She retired May 1st, 2002, after 25 years of service. After retirement she continued to serve her community as a Coraopolis School Crossing Guard.

Over the years she was a member of the walter Robinson post 450 American legion and worked on the Sewickley come home committee.  She was also a member as well as staff at the Keith-Holmes VFW post 402 in Coraopolis.  Her hobbies included knitting and calligraphy.

Marilyn is proceeded in death by her parents, the late Marion L. and Virginia L. Sellers, siblings, Marion III (Sarah) and Bertha Gean Sellers, two daughters, Dawn Elle Smith and Meredith Christine Smith.  Marilyn leaves behind her daughter, Virginia (Eric) Cyrus, five grandchildren, Skyler Perlik, Sierra Perlik, Torian Cyrus, Xavier Cyrus, Selah Cyrus.  She also leaves her life partner of 25 years, Leroy “PJ” Killins and a host of nieces and nephews.  Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her nephews.  Marilyn’s smile was infectious. She was loyal and loved her friends dearly.

Visitation Monday (May 13th) 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 fifth Ave. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday (May 14th) at 11 am. Pastor Carol Bronaugh will officiate with Minister Shirley Bell offering the eulogy. A burial will follow at Sewickley cemetery.
