Marie Hough Obituary

Marie Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Hough, 84, of Moon Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, surrounded by her loving family at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Marie is remembered by her family and friends as a strong woman who was never short on conversation, thanks to her Irish gift of gab. She always put the needs of others before her own and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Although she raised five boys, she was affectionately known as “Mom” to many others throughout the years. No one ever left Marie’s home hungry, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

She was the “cool grandma” who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Her family was truly her pride and joy, and she loved sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. Nothing made her happier than family gatherings during the holidays, when everyone could come together to eat, laugh, and play games.

Despite facing numerous serious health issues over the past 20 years, Marie never lost her passion for life. She remained strong and courageous, fighting bravely until the very end.

Born on October 7, 1941, in Imperial, Pennsylvania, Marie was the daughter of the late Howard J. and Mary E. (Drugmand) McLaughlin. She was a 1959 graduate of West Allegheny High School and later worked as an Inventory Clerk at the 911th Airlift Wing before retiring in 2001.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Henry J. Hough. She was the cherished mother of Joe Hough, Jay (Marci) Hough, Greg (Crystal) Hough, Mike (Lisa) Hough, and Eric (Jenae) Hough. She was the loving sister of William H. (Rachelle) McLaughlin and the late Gloria (McLaughlin) Falkman.  She was the proud grandmother of Matt (Kendra), Katie (Addison), Tiffany (Garrett), Casey (Danny), Brittany, Jay Jr. (Heather), Emily (Ben), Amanda, Alana, Brennan, Zachary (Hanna), and Samantha (Conor), and is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog and faithful companion, Leo.

In her spare time, Marie enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and most of all, spending time with her family.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be announced in the near future. Arrangements have been entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made in Marie’s memory to the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company or to a charity of your choice.
