Marian (Moore) Ross, 98, a Christian woman who lived her faith, wonderful mother and grandmother, a devoted teacher, a life-long resident of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Celebration Villa at Lakemont Farms (formerly Elmcroft of Bridgeville). Marian was born in Coraopolis on May 18, 1923, one of three children born to the late Kearan and Ida ((Skorcynski) Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Ross, and her brother Bud Moore. Marian is survived by her three children: Kathleen (Skip) Tatala, Marian “Sue” (Keith) Quillen and David (Debbie) Ross; six grandchildren Amanda, Kate (Jaime), Andrew, Robyn (Thurman), Jason (Christen), and Jennifer (fiancé Sean); three great-grandchildren Hugo Escarate Quillen, Levi Jackson and Carson James Ross; her brother Harry (Dorothy) Moore; special niece Debbi Marsden (Martin) and many loving nieces and nephews. Marian Moore graduated as Valedictorian from Coraopolis High School, Class of 1941 and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1945. She was first hired by the Moon Area School District and began teaching at Thorn Run School. Later in 1963, she returned to teaching at Coraopolis/Cornell School District. She loved teaching 3rd and 4th graders and they loved her. She instilled the love of reading in her students, many of whom would come back to say thank you to her when they were home visiting. She had touched their lives and opened their minds. She also loved to read as well as embroider and do needlework. She joined the First Baptist Church of Coraopolis in 1937 which carried to present and served as the Church Librarian. Marian, a caregiver for her mother and Stella Stewart, had an unhurried patience about her. She was sweet, kind, and quiet. Visitation Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM. Rev. Mark Heiner will officiate. Burial will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to The First Baptist Church of Coraopolis or Habitat for Humanity.
