Margaret B. (Brown) O'Leary

Margaret (Brown) O’Leary, 73, of Sewickley, formerly of Greentree, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.  Born on April 23, 1952, at Sewickley Valley Hospital, Peggy was one of four daughters of the late Coyle and Eleanor “Nancy” (Mullen) Brown. She was a 1970 graduate of Rochester High School and went on to earn her associate’s degree from Robert Morris College.  Peggy built a successful career as a Recreation Support Specialist for the U.S. Army at the Charles E. Kelly Support Facility in Oakdale, where she served with dedication until her retirement in 2014.

A woman of many passions, Peggy was an avid reader who also found great joy in gardening, cooking, and baking. She was known for her open-door policy and nurturing spirit, always welcoming family and friends with warmth and generosity. Peggy was a natural caretaker, providing unwavering support and love to everyone around her.

She was the beloved wife of Frank J. O’Leary, whom she married on October 3, 1997; cherished mother of Jennifer O’Leary Potts (Keith) and Lindsay O’Leary Verbene (Giovanni); and loving grandmother of Katelyn Potts, Joseph Potts, Antonio Verbene, Giuliana Verbene, and Matteo Verbene. Peggy is survived by her sisters Barbara DeWalt (Jeffrey) and Susan Martin (David), and was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Brown Hoover. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Peggy will be remembered for her charisma, compassion, and the unwavering love she gave to her family and friends. She was the heart of her home and the soul of every gathering — a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A memorial mass will be held at Divine Redeemer, St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143 on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
