Lucia D. (Downing) Sarachine

Lucia D. Sarachine, 90, of Moon Twp completed her earthly journey surrounded by her family on Monday, June 14, 2021.  Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Leah (Rugg) Downing.  Lucia was retired as a teacher from West Allegheny School District but never lost her love of teaching and learning.  She kept herself busy with gardening and growing flowers, bird watching, fishing, studying the moon and stars, reading and spending quality time with her family. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sarachine.

She will be remembered and missed by her children, Steve (Ann) Sarachine, Mary (Ralph) Bugay and Ginny (Dave) Blashford; her grandchildren, Miranda (Paul) Falso, Melanie (Sean) Heffern, Stevie Sarachine, Kerry (Walter) Barker and Nicholas Blashford; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Eddy, Logan, Liam, Rainey, Michelle and Megan; and her sister, Judith Downing. 

Relative and friends will be received Friday, June 18, 2021, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Copeland’s, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp., where morning prayers will be said Saturday at 9am before a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (St Margaret Mary) 1 Parish Drive, Moon Twp, with Fr. MingWei Li officiating.  Entombment will follow services at Resurrection Cemetery.
