Louis Celletti, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, after 93 years of a full and blessed life.
Louis was the son of the late Theresa and Joseph Celletti and the brother of the late Mary Zalewski and Rosie Cicero.
Louis was raised in McKees Rocks, PA in an area he referred to as “The Flats”. The Flats were just like one large family, which included the DiCenzos, Delmonites, Fabianos, and Leons. As kids, they played every game in season, even basketball with tin cans and remained friends for life.
Lou’s passion for football took root early — he earned a spot on his high school varsity team as a freshman in ninth grade, a milestone that sparked a lifelong love for the game. After high school, Lou continued his love of the game by playing semi-pro football with the Corliss Cadets in the Pittsburgh area. He even lined up against future Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas—an experience he loved to share
Louis was drafted into the Army where he honorably served as a company clerk. While stationed in Europe, he fulfilled a special dream of visiting the Italian village where his father was born. He treasured the memory of sleeping in his father’s childhood straw bed and sharing lively conversations with relatives who spoke so quickly in Italian that he would gently ask them to slow down so he could join in.
He met and charmed the love of his life Betty on a blind date and started to build their life together immediately.
Louis and Betty were married on November 24, 1962, and made their home in Moon Township, where they raised their children.
Lou worked as a machinist at A. Stucki Company in McKees Rocks from 1957-1997 where he made side bearing for rail cars. The plant’s nearby location to his childhood home gave him the opportunity to visit his mother daily after work. He claimed it was to lend a helping hand, but everyone knew she had something delicious waiting for him.
Louis is survived by 2 children Michelle and Steven, 2 grandchildren and niece Christine (Zalewski) Ansel.
As a resident of Village St. Joseph in Baden, for the past few years, Lou will be remembered for his quick wit, his curiosity about everyone’s hometown, and his ever-present pocket full of Werther’s candies, always ready to share. Michelle is deeply thankful for the kindness and loving care provided by the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice. Words cannot fully express my gratitude to Chaplain Thomas. His prayers and uplifting words, meant so much during this time. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Louis’s name can be made directly to: Good Samaritan Hospice www.good-samaritanHospice.org.
Lou is now reunited with Betty and will remain together forever.
