Lois Crain Obituary

On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, Lois Jean Crain, devoted wife and loving mother, passed away after a brief illness surrounded by family at the age of 89. She was born on January 25, 1932 to Walter and Rhoda Amsler and grew up in Economy Borough. She graduated from Ambridge High School, completed college course work, and studied piano and voice.  She was an extraordinarily talented pianist and vocalist and delighted in her performances at the Grange where she was spotted by Richard Crain, who promptly signed up for piano lessons from her. They quickly fell in love and were married on March 31, 1951. Lois worked as a bank teller in the early years of their marriage and then became a full-time homemaker. She was a deeply spiritual person who gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and carried forward her faith to create with Richard in their 70 years of marriage a large family full of life. Lois was deeply faithful to the Providence Presbyterian Church in Robinson Township, where she served as a pianist and organist, sang in the choir, and participated in the prayer ministry. She attended and taught Bible studies for many years and was a long-time member of the Sewickley Music Club. She stayed informed about all of the activities and life events of each child and grandchild. Surviving her are husband Richard; children Cathleen Williams (Jeffrey), Carol Danley (Charles), Laura Crain (Anthony Fisher), Bruce Crain (Kathryn), and Brian Crain (Robin); sixteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. Lois was preceded in death by her sister Marian Cook (Calvin). A private service for family was held at Copeland Funeral Home in Sewickley on January 18, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Through the Bible with J. Vernon McGee, Turning Point with David Jeremiah, Jews for Jesus, or Messianic Jewish Alliance of America.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
