Lester S. Prekop, Jr, a life-long resident of Coraopolis, a world traveler, and a family man, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, May 14, 2020. He was 85. Born in Sewickley on September 11, 1934, he was the oldest of three sons to the late Lester S. and Anna Prekop, Sr. Beloved husband for 46 years to the late Mary (Toia) Prekop; loving father of Brenda Toia-Farris (James) and Maria Prekop; cherished grandfather of Nicole Farris; proud great grandfather of Ellionna Tabb-Farris; brother of Edward Prekop (Freda) of Aliquippa and John Prekop (the late Sherry) of California. Lester was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. He was a faithful and life-long member of St. Joseph Church and the Knights of Columbus. Lester carried on the family business for over 40 years, Lester’s Tavern. And who could forget those family vacations? By train, by car, off the family would go to Washington, California, Maine, Canada, Florida. And Mandatory Stop! at every state zoo. Lester was fun and well-loved. He will be missed by family and friends. A Blessing Service will be held at Copeland’s Coraopolis (following COVID-19 restrictions) and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family suggests donations if desired to Life Pittsburgh.
