Kurt was born on May 1, 1955, in and went to high school in Meriden CT. As a skilled accordion player and fluent German speaker, he was an active participant in the life of the Meriden Turner Society. He and his family travelled extensively in New England and internationally. They spent numerous summers in Alpendorf, a resort in NH as well as a family cottage in Old Saybrook CT. Time was also spent in his family’s home in Hornbach, Germany as a child. In high school, he was quarterback of his team and was an active participant in the social life of the school. After graduating high school, he attended Bryant College in Smithfield, RI, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in business. At Bryant, he was actively engaged in the social life as well and served as president of his fraternity. After earning his degree, he moved to Natrona Heights, PA and worked as a manager in several of Allegheny Technologies plants in the Allegheny Valley until his retirement in 2015. He passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 with his immediate family present. He is survived by his mother, Helga Suhr of Sewickley, PA; his sister, Karen Suhr Weiss and husband Martin, both from Sewickley, PA, niece, Carena of Del City, Oklahoma, nephew, Eric, of Seattle, Washington, nephew, Evan of Pittsburgh, PA, niece, Madeline, of Pittsburgh, PA, numerous cousins from Germany, Massachusetts, Carolinas, Florida and Pennsylvania and four daughters. A private family service was held. Arrangements by Copeland’s Sewickley.
