Keith "Ray" Raymond Tyson

Keith Raymond Tyson (Ray) died unexpectedly on July 11, 2026. Ray was born on February 20,1953 in Beaver Falls, PA. His parents, Keith and Mary Lou Tyson, two brothers Mark and Greg, and Ray’s cherished son, Matthew have preceded him in death. Surviving siblings are Bruce (Karen), Kathy and Louise. Ray was fond of saying he was a steel worker’s kid. He was proud of his BS in business from Robert Morris University and MA from Geneva College. Ray’s working life began in a steel foundry followed by fast food and medical practice management before finishing his career as a financial advisor with Baird Financial Services. People mattered to Ray, whether they were clients, co-workers, neighbors or strangers: Ray enjoyed making jokes or talking sports. Ray did truly live for his family. In 2006, Ray married Catherine, “newlyweds in our 50’s.” A blended family of Ray’s children, Laura (Shawn), Matthew, Addie and Sam and Catherine’s Alexis (Ben) and Steven (Kat) were soon followed by grandchildren Evelyn, Isla, Leo, XingMu, Frances and Basil. Gramps was a title worn with honor, silliness and outlandish “wow” gifts. Family trips to St Simon’s, Ocracoke, Chincoteague, UP Michigan, the Great Smoky Mountains and Cape Cod live large in family lore and memory. Ray retired June 30, 2025. Before leaving July18th for their first Nomad Adventure in the teardrop camper there was a Heaven On Nevin Ice Cream party to celebrate with the great neighborhood.Three months were spent in the West, with the month in Montana as the Crown Jewel for Ray. Stretching his arms Ray would shout, “this is exactly what I dreamed all the years in the barn staring at computer screens.” People said, “ Do it while you can.” And Ray and Catherine did, traveling in the winter of 2026 to Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Ray called himself a Bible Believing Christian, a man of God. There were feet on Ray’s faith in his giving, generosity and caring for others in both St Stephen’s Episcopal Church and Christ Church at Grove Farm. A celebration of Life will be held for Ray in the Barn at Christ Church on August 1, 2026 from 1- 4pm. Consider donations to the Community Food Bank or Urban Impact in lieu of flowers. Ray was a good man who will be sorely missed by many including dog, Norah and cat, Amos.
