Kathryn Amfield Porto, 86, a Coraopolis Tower resident for the past 5 years, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 at Heritage Valley Kennedy. Born on Pittsburgh’s North Side on June 18, 1936, Kathryn was one of three daughters born to the late Thorn and Amfield (Davis) Vetter. Kathryn met the man of her dreams at a dance at the 911th Air Force Base. She married Samuel J. Porto “Sam”, on February 4, 1957. They had 61 years together until he passed on October 24, 2018. She is survived by her loving children Kathy (Ray) Viccaro, Debbie (the late Rich) Albert, Sammy (Brenda) Porto, Kristine (Dave) Gill, Gary (Dawn) Porto and Bradd (Heather) Porto; 14 cherished grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; also her dear cherished friends Cree and Chloe. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Caryle Kroll and Doris Reiner. Kathryn attended church at the Coraopolis Towers and Carnegie first Christian Church. She was a shop-a-holic at heart. Her passion was purses and Boscov was her go to place. Kathryn loved music, especially Bobby Vinton and Elvis Pressley. She had a date with Johnny Carson nightly as she watched his re-runs. Her sense of humor was kind of quirky and poignant at the same time, she put on her husband’s marker, return to sender. Something we all wish for as we leave our earthly life. Visitation Thursday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. She will be reunited with her husband as she is inurned at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
