Joyce Kathryn Solomon-Bernard, 80, of Crescent, PA, peacefully passed away Feb. 2, 2025 at Juniper Village at South Hills.
Born July 20, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, Joyce was the younger daughter of the late Stephen John and Susan Helen (Stanislaw) Andrascik. Her truest happiness in life came from making joyful memories and dedicating herself to her wonderful husbands, Phillip Rocco Solomon and Daniel John Bernard, both of whom preceded her in death.
Hardworking and fun-loving, Joyce owned and operated Brothers Inn bar, where she worked alongside family and friends to serve the Aliquippa community. Later, she proudly and happily worked as a custodian at the Pittsburgh International Airport side-by-side with her husband, Danny, and a group of coworkers who became close friends.
Joyce’s one-of-a-kind free spirit is incredibly missed by those who cared for her. She is survived by her loving sister, Alice Solomon, and her devoted nieces Sherry Solomon, Joyce (Mark) Belculfine, and (great nieces) Lexi and Chloe Belculfine.
Her family is beyond grateful for the sense of community and love provided at Juniper Village and to Commonwealth Hospice for their compassion and expertise. None of the quality care Joyce received would have been possible without the generosity of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
On the first full day of spring, all are invited to a memorial service celebrating Joyce’s life at 1:30 p.m. March 21 at the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery chapel (2186 Brodhead Rd., Aliquippa, PA). Following, all are invited to share memories and a spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Ambridge American Legion Post 341 (400 Duss Ave., Ambridge, PA).
Flowers will be accepted at the Mount Olivet memorial service. Joyce was an avid dog lover, and donations in her name are welcomed at the Beaver County Humane Society.
