Jonathan Charles Stark

Jonathan Charles Stark, 67, of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 11, 2026, while reading a book. He closed his eyes and opened them to see his Savior in Heaven, Praise the Lord.

Born on August 19, 1958, in Mendota, Illinois, and raised in Ashland, Ohio, Jonathan was the son of Bruce and Tena Stark, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Lydia Washington. Jonathan is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Stark; his daughter, Jocelyn Hendershot and her husband, Taylor; and his grandchildren, Makayo and Selah. He is also survived by his siblings, Dan Stark; Tim Stark and his wife, Charmaine; Ruth Streer and her husband, Paul; Rebekah Miller and her husband, Ron.

Jonathan devoted his life to loving his wife and daughter, providing Christian education, and serving the church. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from Calvin College, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Seminary, and a teaching certificate from Geneva College.

For 40 years, Jonathan faithfully taught Bible, Literature, and French at Robinson Township Christian School to upper school students. Through his dedication to teaching and love for his students, he deeply influenced generations of young people and helped shape countless lives. Jonathan was a pillar of the school and many struggle to imagine it without him.

Jonathan also served as an elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for 34 years. His ministry was marked by humility, wisdom, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the truth of the Gospel and love of God's Word.

Jonathan will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, elder, and lifelong lover of learning and creativity. His quiet faith, thoughtful intellect, love of books, and faithful service to both church and school left an enduring legacy. He impacted the lives of countless students, church members, friends, and family for the Kingdom of God, and his influence will continue to be felt for many years.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis. A memorial service celebrating Jonathan's life and faith will be held on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Robinson Township Christian School in honor of Jonathan's life and legacy.
