John "Miz" Mizerak

John “Miz” Mizerak; Age 78, of Verona and formerly of Moon Twp passed away on Friday, October 31st. Miz was born on February 26, 1947 in Ernest, PA, a son of the late Andrew and Bertha Mizerak. John was the beloved husband of Doreen Gilboy. Cherished father of Scott (Amy) Mizerak and Adam (Shelby) Mizerak. Brother of Andrew (late Jean) Mizerak, Barbara (late Charles) Rossi, late Catherine (late Don) Harvey, Frances (Frank) Busovicki and the late Jim (Sally) Mizerak. Grandfather of Kyalie, Chase, Laney and Jack. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John graduated from the Marion Center High School and later from the Beaver County Community College. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era earning the National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the Army, Miz worked for Allegheny Airlines/USAir holding multiple customer service and management positions. Miz was known for his kindness and will be missed by the many friends he made while working at the airlines.  In his spare time, John enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, bowling and golfing, even scoring a coveted Hole-in-one on September 15, 2012. Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 5th from 2 – 8 pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 6th at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, Moon Twp at 11am. Interment will be PRIVATE. The family would like to wish a special thanks to the staff at Monarch Hospice in Lower Burrell for their warm and compassionate care.
