John Lundeen Obituary

Age 74, of North Fayette Township and formerly of Moon Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024.  Born on March 10, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Carl and Betty (Berkman) Lundeen.  He is survived by two beloved sisters: Carol Hazlett of Sewickley and Judy Grisevich of Jamestown, Rhode Island.  He was an admired Uncle, Grand Uncle, and Great Grand Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

John was a lifelong bachelor who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  In his younger days, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving sports cars.  A few of his favorites included the green Chevy Camaro that he had in the 70’s and the red Pontiac Fiero and red Jeep in the 80’s.  He was a proud, hard-working union man, a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (IAM) for many years.  After retirement, he kept busy working at the Airport Marriott.

John was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church in Moon Township, serving as a Deacon, and also the church videographer, in the past.

John enjoyed Jack Daniels whiskey, and once visited the distillery at the Tennessee plant.  A life-long sports fan, he often watched the Steelers, with a cold Iron City beer in one hand and Myron Cope’s Terrible Towel in the other.

John always had a soft heart for those in need.  When he learned of a blood shortage, he began the habit of regular blood donations.  He donated gallons of blood over the years.   He once rescued a feral, starving kitten from a trash compactor at work; the cat lived a long, happy 21 years.

His beloved pets gave him a great deal of comfort in his later years, after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE First Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
