John David Hunter

John David Hunter 73 of Moon Township passed away on August 26th quietly in his sleep after an extended battle with cancer. John is survived by his beloved son, Scott, also of Moon Township, his grandson Logan of Rochester, Joan Park his longtime friend and companion, his sister Barbara Lorenzini, (Roger), nieces Robin Kruse (Tony), Linda Brand (John), Bruce McElhinney (Rachel), Betsy Hoskin (Ross), David McElhinney (Dawn) and Barb Hunter his lifelong friend and former wife. John was the son of the late May E. “Nanna” (Lewis) and Raymond W. Hunter formerly of Mt. Lebanon. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley McElhinney (Frank) of Oakmont. John graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1972. After many years working in sales for Atlas Industries in Carnegie John retired and began most recently working at the Moon Township Hilton Garden Inn as head of maintenance and engineering. John loved boating and skiing both on water and snow. Most weekends found him and his friends on the Pittsburgh rivers he loved. John had many close friends and colleagues. To his friends, John was always an inspiration for his humor, work ethics and willingness to help wherever needed. John was a good man and loved making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
